Abstract / Introduction:
This article is trying to explain my primary concern over what has been happening by Left-wing campaigns in Western countries; feasible unwell decisions that leads the Left-wing to lose elections and in consequence conducts democratic governments towards oligarchic systems gradually. In the other word, the Left’s weaknesses have been reinforcing Oligarchy. By Stating some historical facts, the article hypothesizes that Left-wing has been defeated recently in elections by itself, before starting games; earlier than facing the competitor(s). [i]
To me, since the end of 20th century, Left-wing began to be its primary enemy and this trend in the long term, may ruin Democracy. This situation associated me the Will Durant’s quote: "a great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within". This article is pointing out that Left-wing might be on the same path on which most of Western countries will get govern by Extreme Right that will change them to oligarchic structures, similar to Russian and Chinese models. Without any judgment that this possible metamorphosis/transition would be “good or evil, “right or wrong”, I am suggesting to be aware of it; analyzing the status, while looking at History as the great instructor to invent vaccines; getting ready for unknown future phenomena. [ii]
If anyone find even one part of this Article a case of thought, it will be my pleasure; otherwise thanks every single reader to spend time and pay attention to my critiques.

Is Democracy promoting Oligarchy?
This article is questioning if the Left-wing Parties are missing any social facts that cause them to lose elections in the 21st Century. If they are defeated by their mistakes, rather than significant strengths of their competitors? The origin of this idea comes from 2016 US Presidential Election in which Democrats lost Clinton-Trump competition, despite investing 80% more money in the game [iii], and taking control of major main-stream media.
The article focuses on the US and Italy to explain historical evidences, accompanying some references of France and Germany [iv] to explain how bipolarized Western societies are creeping towards oligarchy. As a rough statistics, in February 2026, there are only 5 of 27 EU members in which Left-wing parties are leading their governments: Germany, Denmark, Spain, Malta, and Slovakia. Hence a new strategy is needed to change the track, to avoid that the term of “Democracy” becomes a swear-word like the time in which Socrates died (and first defendant was democracy itself).
To explain the progressive reinforcement of Oligarchy, Italian atmosphere would be a good example. Geographical, anthropological, and financial point of view, I am assuming Italy as the balance point indicator (or the thermometer) of the West (from Poland to the US plus Australia and Israel). At the end of Feb.2026, Giorgia Meloni will celebrate 1226 days of her Prime Ministry; it is the best second record in Italian Republic after Bettino Craxi with 1353 days [v]. Her cabinet looks solid and energetic, she created strong corporation with other Right-wing parties, speaks efficiently with the public, interact well internationally, and get supported by professionals in media (specially for her foreign policies, I think Mediaset (MFE) has been playing a significant role to show her up).
The Italian Right-wing Coalition extended and modified “Flat-Tax” style regimes that has been encouraging rich people to invest money inside, also stimulates Oligarchs to move in as new residents. In general, the result is stronger economy in the stock market, real estates, and tourism industry [vi]. In the other word, the Right-wing Cabinet is helping Oligarchs and in return, they should support the Right-wing. This phenomenon would continue so gradually in which the change would not be sensible for others and in the long term we would face the final scene of George Orwell’s Animal Farm in which animals look inside of the house and cannot distinguish Pigs and Humans from each other while playing card. That is the end of the Democracy. This trend will go on to provide such a strong economic gap in societies that lead the country towards Oligarchy with a superficial Democratic structure or less likely to Revolution or Anarchy. [vii]
Compared with the strong Meloni’s Government, Italian Left parties appear less energetic, without a clear united strategy to compete. The Left-wing tried to get unified, being closer to Parliament’s majority with the Wide Campaign (Campo Largo) without significant success.
When Prime Minister Meloni started to govern Italy, Vice President Matteo Salvini (head of Lega Nord party) said: “We are here to stay for ten years” [viii]; to me that is not just a dream; should be a feasible plan. He said in July 2023 and guess what? In July 2025 Giorgia Melini will gain the record of the longest Italian republic government. Matteo Salvini’s party is in favor of escaping from the EU, shrinking Nato, and governing Greenland by US. This phenomenon is growing in Italy and probably in the future in Germany and France; then the domino effect will invade the EU and in summary, here is the scenario:
Weakness of the Left-wing fortify Extreme-Right parties in the Europe; Nato will vanish; the European Union will revise treaties that provide more freedom and flexibility for its members. I am thinking of a day on which countries like Finland, Germany will govern by Extreme Right with a very clear policy to get closer with Russia, China, India, and Brazil. The worst-case scenario would be Germany (as the locomotive of the Europe) if get allied to Russia [ix]. Italy and Germany are still paying the cost as WW2 losers; in lack of military atomic power, they need NATO (let’s say the US) to get protected and in uncertain future of NATO, they would need to lean on another super power for security and energy concerns.
That prediction stimulates me to define possible origins of Left-wing debility, accompanying a few solutions to start the problem-solving process:
Definition of presumable problems:
1. Courage for Critical Decision Making (by having a Vision)
Sometimes, a lack of courage to make drastic decisions occurs in Left-wing. The origin of the issue would be an individual’s concern about his/her political career and/or conventionalism (conservativity) of a party. Both are strong hinders against in-time turning-point and momentaneous critical decision making. Here is an example:
Democrats won 2020 Biden-Trump presidential election. Due to President Biden’s age and his conditions, very rational approach was supposed to taking advantage of time as a key factor towards a “transitional period” to promote other candidates, especially for Vice President Harris to get ready for the next internal election and let her compete with other Democrat nominees to be in front of the public, to speak about backgrounds, thoughts and plans for almost three years to build up a strong competitor. That would be the decision of President Biden on one hand and the force of the party’s members on the other hand; particularly high ranked Democrats in Congress and beyond; a courageous radical decision out-of-the-box that never happened.
On the contrary, there was a President who really liked to stay in the White House, with an attitude far from President Obama who kept his Vice President next to himself in front of media’s lenses [x] and Democratic Party members were conservative, judt accepted the condition as is. In this way three years passed and just in the last year Democrats changed the path after seeing clear statistics about high possible failure in upcoming Presidential election.
I would like to get back to my main question: Does the Left-wing in West lose games to itself or to competitor(s)?
2. Visual Effects of the Window Display
Visual perception is the dominant human sense; probably the first thing that influence on public’s judgment. Therefore, energy and illumination of surface is essential to attract voters. Overall, I have been seeing less attention of Left-wing to the appearance while selecting a team. It is understandable that Left-wing is supposed to be humbler, behave less superficial, with peaceful manner by nature but that calmness should be full of internal energy to impress people; like President Barak Obama’s body languages and communications. To be clear, in the world of cinema we could compare extravagant acting of Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, and Jack Nicholson with interagency of Anthony Quinn, Anthony Hopkins and Kevin Spacey.
As a political example, you could look at the contrast between President Trump’s team (2024-present) with President Biden’s one in Cabinet’s level; style of interacting and speaking of the members. The Left-wing may think that the selections are always based on political factors and proficiency in each carrier, but I would like to point out weight factor of outward form as a fundamental criteria to create an attractive look, shows that a team is strong and serious to work [xi]. From my perspective, most professional members with mediocre verbal and physical energy could get hired on other levels that need less presentation in front of the public. This strategy may cause over-qualification issue for positions like Vice Secretary, Vice Attorney, …, but a President could figure it out, re-balancing the team. In this way, a Cabinet would have an illuminated shape to charm the Public.
3. Internal Clarity on Parties’ Top level
In my view, Right-wing looks more active to show the public that has plans to cope with social problems for satisfying voters in 21st century (on conceptual or practical levels). Political attitude dictates that the Left-wing demonstrates opposite approaches or at least criticize those policies and it is comprehensible. Beyond those reactions, does Left-wing accepts that those social problems exist in its internal communications? If yes, is the Left actively searching for alternative plans to solve those issues? In lack of efficient activities, Left-wing will lose some swing voters, centralist and young generations who will determine the winner of elections.
A realistic example is illegal immigrants in the US. Right-wing has some solutions: wall in the Mexico border, arresting and deporting them, controlling severely the shore areas around the country, sever screening to issue visas, …. I think in the reaction, Left criticizes those policies, without putting any clear applicable plans on the table; talking about using that money in education instead, about subjective concepts like needs to build bridges between societies instead of wall …
Without pragmaticism beyond those external reactions in front of the public, Left will stand in a passive position and a part of society who feel those social problems in their daily lives and are concerned about future go to Right campus. Upcoming examples will explain this matter better; highlighting necessity of internal clarity of Left-wing parties:
4. Deficient Stratagem for periods in minority
This part is connected to the above section (internal clarity), emphasizes on proactivity as the desired attitude, at least in level of idealization and programing; anytime Left-wing is in minority period (with less executive / legislative power). The key point is “NOSCE TE IPSUM” [xii] ; being clear with itself as reinforcement power to have a long-term stratagem. In the future, in countries like Italy Left-wing minority periods may be longer than the past and having active plans would be essential to be ready for proper movements. This attitude would create sympathy and attracts people to join/remain the campus.
Readiness is fundamental characteristic to face brand new human being lifestyle. Radical changes that have been initiated (better to say “injected”) by High-Tech create different mindset for new generations. In the past 30 years, a mostly analogue life pattern has been switched to a significant digital mode. Changes will keep going even faster because of revolution of Artificial Intelligent and Robotics. Therefore, active feasible strategies are need for future political competitions in which Generation Z and Alpha will play main roles and probably traditional policies and patterns will be less efficient.
In response to frenetic invasion of technology, the System (educational and judiciary) and individuals (specially parents) have been always quite slow to get updated without losing the big image of high-quality life. In most cases, adults are barely capable to manage (and/or educate) themselves with decent integrity, or to comprehend radical changes deeply. In this context, paying attention to outside outcomes (rather than inside of human being) is becoming an actual problem; accepting almost everything that has been imposed to individuals’ life style; without looking and thinking of the consequences. In this game, adults’ world is not capable to bring up young generations, helping them to get adapted and take advantage of technology consciously instead of melting into. Therefore, the ambience guides kids by its own and what is missed is logical screening to accept or reject info, concepts, an at the end the entire life-style. I think this is what the Left-wing would need a strategy for.
Having Panels consist of professionals in each political party will help to fill this instructional gap between kids and educational system, kids and parents, and people with judiciary system (Battle Royale, 2000 [xiii] is a movie that shows the danger of this missing link between generations [xiv]). In summary, having a long-term vision will place Left-wing on the diver seat instead of demonstrate liability and passive reactions specially in minority periods. In the last part (finding solutions), I will suggest a structure for a “Professional Panel”.
Continuing the previous example (illegal immigration), I would like to bring up another social issue: “silent internal anger” of hopeless people; what Left-wing would need a Stratagem to cope with, in order to protect Democracy.
As noted, societies have been changing very fast and people look at each other via social network in which money is the main factor that has value. In this atmosphere, competitions are focused on obtaining more money and people look at outside much more than inside of themselves. In this race, who feel that have nothing in horizon get frustrated. Frustration produces anger and in critical situations provides unpredictable violences by individuals and groups.[xv] Therefore having plans to reducing social stress should be essential; it is what Sigmund Freud calls as the purpose of life [xvi] .
If the Left-wing does not have effective solutions for unbalanced societies (beyond increasing minimum salary and social welfare advancement), Democracy will be in a weak position, means it cannot be capable to solve social problems and then Oligarchy would be first available alternative. Here are some suggestions for the Left-wing’s “Professional Panel”; reducing social and financial gaps are the key points:
- Educational and Financial System should create initial plans to deal with fundamentalism, and violence. A sort of strategy that helps youths (who are in touch with fanatism and criminality at home, in residential quarters, and in social media) finding a way to free their minds from those ambiences. That would be a part of a solution for coping with youth gangs (in Italy so called baby gangs) [xvii] that are growing up in cities and countrysides. In countries like Italy and France it is becoming a serious problem for social stability [xviii]. Having a group of successful people that grow up in difficult quarters and now are prominent in their careers (i.e. athletes) to meet young generations would be a source of inspiration [xix] , being capable to transcend their minds from overwhelming street culture. Indirectly this soft plan in the long term will be a method to cope with Ultra-left violence of Antagonists that is bolstering Racism in societies (one problem that is providing another problem and continues to resonate [xx]).
- In the same way, findings solutions to unify immigrants with the host society is necessary, especially for children. In countries like France and Germany has seen that even second and third generations of the immigrants are not feeling that settlement countries are Home. An evolutionary plan of Educational System and Labor Market will play a significant role to reduce the social and economic gaps between immigrants and the country of host, to make a child feel that they belong to society. And again, in long term, it would be an indirect way to reduce Racism that is growing up under society’s skin, which polarizes residences and it may lead countries to irreversible disconnected situation [xxi]. In the “professional panel” finding solutions have two sided; on one hand listening, understanding, and helping them and on the other hand teaching them to behave in harmony with host societies; to get attached to.
- Another important social issue would be Narcotics and other synthetic drugs that are coming out of laboratories and year by year get stronger. Does the Left-wing have any out-of-the-box strategy to deal with? In continuation of legalization of Marijuana in some countries and states, for people who select to use drugs same as traditional legal substances (nicotine, alcohol, and fatty foods with salt and sugar) to escape reality for some hours [xxii], having legal pills out of the counter as well as facilitating to order prescribed drugs by medical system (not only for treatment but for recreational purposes [xxiii] ) would be a solution. This approach can reduce illegal drugs demand and cash-flow in black markets; in addition it provides more valid statistics about amount of used drugs and bring taxes in the pockets of governments. Above all, it would improve societies health in a pragmatic way while the system sympathizes with people’s needs in a creative way.
“Lack of plan” Consequences:
In lack of the Left-wing’s proactive plans for above issues, the Right-wing would take the advantage of unbalanced societies, offering social improvements even with iron fist to remain in majority status. Step-by-step this trend leans the West towards Oligarchy. The Right knows the way, with high level of energy on stage with theatrical performances (that is essential in Politics) emphasizes on religious, patriotism and dangers of dark uncertain future for families, jobs, investments, healthcare, and national security to gain more votes.
The pattern is very close to Italy and Germany after Octobre 1917 (Russian Revolution) in which Church, Bourgeoisie, Traditional Families, and then Public Majority had supported Fascism and Nazism to become governors; probably the main concern was awareness of repetition of Bolshevik Revolution in other parts of the Europe. It is an endless story; how Ultra-left and Ultra-right help each other as hidden friends to get promoted. A 21th-century example is the friendship of Ultra-right in Israel [xxiv] and Iran. This hazard is another importance for the Left-wing to have a clear Stratagem in minority periods.
Here are some internal and international affairs examples in the US to show how the Right-wing convinces the public about its efficiency (in my interpretations):
- If Democrats (2020-2024) cannot provide safety in cities like LA, Chicago, DC, and …, we send National Guard; in lack of the Police Force productivity [xxv].
- If Democrats (2020-2024) cannot find a way to cope illegal immigration, we use ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to catch and deport them. (most of us already know the consequences in 2025-26).
- If Democrats (2009-2017) do not have any plan to protect our land borders with Mexico, we construct a wall.
- If Democrats (2009-2017) & (2009-2017) cannot control Iran’s nuclear suspicious plan, we figure it out with Airforce decisive attacks.
- If Democrats (2020-2024) cannot solve drug trafficking from Venezuela, we arrest the President.
- If Democrats (since 1993) have not clear plans to compete with China economically, we change the tariffs dramatically, announcing a kind of economic war. (China economic boom was possibly one of the strategic decisions of Democratic party. [xxvi] )
Regardless of actual results and consequences, [in short term] the Right-wing shows up charming advertisements to satisfy the public and demonstrates the capability to lead the mass society toward a better future; “Resurrection of American Dream”. Anyhow it will increase social bi-polarity and creates more tension. Most of those Right-wing decisive decisions for typical middle- to upper-class population are neither necessarily radical nor an instance of racism or propaganda; those have common daily senses instead and play an important role to attract swing voters and centralist towards their campus. (I am talking about a part of people with families, regular jobs, and businesses.)
Finding Solutions
Above four assumable problems would get solved with a consequence of unconventional procedures:
1. Professional Panel(s)
In my view, each party should have panel(s) of professionals with wide range of expertise. Panel(s) consists not only of politicians, professors, famous journalists, and labor-unions’ representatives, but also who are in close daily contacts with body of societies in cities and rural areas; who are capable to comprehend, describe and probably analyze under-skin status of communities: teachers (specially in a low income difficult quarters), plumbers and electricians who visit several houses daily, psychologists, nurses, medical doctors, project managers in construction, taxi drivers, fast food waiters, and food deliverers. In addition, I would like to highlight the importance of outstanding Historians and Anthropologists’ attendances; who are capable to analyze past, present and give futuristic ideas to political leaders.
Collecting valid analyzed info and then synthetizing those theoretical and practical views conduct a party toward more realistic vision from an authentic perspective; far from presumptions, habits and archetypes. The Panel stands beyond routines and political dictations that are dealing with daily internal and international discussions and looking at upcoming elections. It will be a walk on a path of innovative strategies.
2. Legislative Community of Left-wing Parties (Left-wing Parliament)
I am suggesting to establish a community that works exactly as a Left-wing Parliament in each country to focus on long-term plans. Each party will participate with only one representative who attends virtual meetings and presents its party’s opinions. It would be a reinforcement method to escape from Left’s minority, especially in Parliamentary Republic Systems ( and Semi-Presidential Republic Countries).
Conditions of Germany, Italy, and France in 21st century are clear examples to show necessity of much more flexibility and corporation on the Left side; requirements of sacrificing desires and dreams of parties that has been reducing the Left’s force. [xxvii] “Professional Panel” in each party will be fundamental to support this community.
In Left-wing Parliament, vote of each parity could be a weight factor that is equal to numbers of its national Parliament representatives (and/or Senate). In the best-case scenario, this “Left Parliament” will have power to make supreme decisions to guide daily activities of Left-wing in “National Parliament and Senates”. In the worst-case scenario, the Community will only play a role as the supreme coordinator; specially about main issues ( Issues might be included what I have mentioned above as “four possible problems”). Anyway, it will provide more harmony, balance and resistance against Right-wing majority. In this way, a large camp will become large again! [xxviii]
Typically, Extreme Right use a pattern to influence mid-class and swing voters, repeating that we are against communists who want to ruin our country; attention, enemy is inside; stay with us! It should be a reason for Extreme Left (that is mostly gain less votes comparing other left-wing parties) to show more flexibility with others in the Community. When Left-wing get stabilized in countries, then disputes between parties could starts; but first step is trying not to be a loser.
As the next step, each country’s Community will get connected with others Internationally:
3. Left-wing Cosmopolite
To create a cosmopolitical corporation, it would be great to connect above Left-wing Parliaments of countrie in international level. My idea comes from Interpol in which police departments of different countries partially shares their classified info, contribute, support, and advise each other.
I am taking about unified global organization with one Representative of each country ( who comes from the most popular Left-wing party of each country for a certain period). This community may work like the UN, but with a minimal and strong structure, far beyond Socialist International (SI), Progressive Alliance, and Party of the European Left (PEL) in term of efficiency.
To simplify the process, it could start from EU, then US, Canada and Australia will join it and this notable alliance will attract other countries to get connected. Simplicity should be the keyword. This coalition at start will be very minimal with 100% online communication to save time, money, and energy and gradually will get developed to provide unified attractive voice for Left all around the World; a powerful source of inspiration for young generations who are seeking to build up better social future.
I would like to emphasize on necessity for “Left-wing Cosmopolite” to create a modern definition of Democracy (and/or Social Democracy) as a philosophy, to bolster Left up. Exactly like Hinduism, Buddhism, and Abrahamic Religions that have been survived over the centuries thank to intellectuality of their philosophers who have been capable for answering questions, solving conflicts, getting updated and having practical visions to draw futuristic paths. I am talking about innovative thoughts beyond daily routines and disputes; an outstanding philosophy to create long-term flexible pragmatic plans beyond concepts; pretty much like Siant’Agostino in the 4th and 5th century as the single most influential philosopher-theologian of early Christianity.
Conclusion:
From my perspective, Left-wing political leaderships in the West are feeding Oligarchy unintentionally. If 21th century Democracy shows less capability to
1- solve daily and long-term social issues
2- satisfy midclass requirements
3- attract low-economy class people to be as a part of societies
4- have practical plans to cope bipolarity
then and as a consequence, we may face a situation like Athenian Polis after murder of Socrates in which the terms of “Democracy” became a “Profanity” because Democratic structure made the worst decision and killed the best one.
In lack of effective revised philosophy and courage of Left-wing, a sort of Oligarchical Government (like China and Russia) that get supported by Ultra Rights will be an alternative in Western countries.
Another possibility would be a crush of system by low-economy class outrage; who see nothing in the horizon [xxix]. I am talking about some sort of Revolutions or Anarchy based on angriness while brains do not elaborate properly. It will have unpredictable results and will lead societies toward dramatic changes in lack of ideology and even without any idea behind.
To avoid this path, the departure point is “know thyself”; self-criticism as a need for profound improvements; looking at interior of humanity more than surrounding environment, and taking advantage of “World of Thought” rather than “World of Things”. [xxx]

[Comincia dalle 11:33] ... il momento topico e’ stato il 2000, quando un presidente piutost peculiare [caratteristico], l’unico insieme a Trump che non abbia fatto un servizio militare, cio’e’ Bill Clinton, decise che di fronte alla crescita che gia’ si vedeva della Cina dal punto di vista econimico e poi complessivo, siamo nel 2000, l’America dovesse addotarla; addotarla come si fa come un "figliol prodigo" [L'espressione italiana è "figliol prodigo", che si riferisce a una persona che ritorna a casa dopo aver sprecato le proprie ricchezze] si cerca di spiegargli come si devono fare le cose, e addortarla voleva dire ammettere la Cina nel Organizzazione Mondiale del Comercio. Cio’e nel sistema economico e finanziario che degli Stati Uniti avevano costruito (e che ancora in parte resiste dopo la seconda guerra mondiale) con tutti gli altri paesi che avevano le posti assegnati, gerarticamente assegniati, ma con il sistema americano e il dollaro come emblema di questo sistema al centro. Ma l’idea di Clinton e degli americani che la pensavano come lui, (stiamo parlando a un presidente per dirla italiana al centro sinistra), l’idea di Clinton era che portando la Cina nel economia mondiale, la Cina sarebbe diventata un paese liberal democratico. Cioe’ immaginava che l’econimia determinasse le istituzioni. Cosa che portroppo o per fortuna ( secondo dei punto di vista) non corrisponde alla realta’ e certamente non corrisponde alla realta’ specifica. La Cina ha sfruttato la scia amaricana, ha sfuttato che noi la chiamiamo cosi’ un po’ simpaticamente la fase della globalizzazzione. E’ diventata una superpotenza economica con enormi limiti che non sto ad alencare che conosciamo anche proprio strutturali, ma e’ entrata in questo sistema e non e’ cambiata, anzi siamo onesti e’ cambiata diventato ancora piu’ chiusa dal punto di vista politico di quanto non fosse. Ricordo che cosa fosse la Cina deil primi anni 2000, era un paese non dico libero, ma in cui c’era certa capacita e possibilita’ di discutere e di confrontarsi. Adesso se va in Cina, la situazione e’ leggermente diversa e poi c’e’ questo regime delle altre tecnologie perche’ in somma tutto si basa sul riconoscimento facciale, la spesa che fa il supermercato al ingresso all’aeroporto insomma ti senti un regime vagamente Orwelliamo e certamento non aperto. Questo 25 anni dal 2000 al 2025, sono stati gli anni del prima appena visibile, poi palese, momento di declino e crollo di grande impero. [Finisce alle 14:36]
